Back To Training

 Pagod galing biyahe.

After a very busy post-tour week off my bike, I am back to training last June 4, Monday. Report na ulit sa national team. Pagod pa rin sa sobrang dami ng activities at appointments pero need to set my tiredness aside para sa training. hehehe. Labo. I had a core training sa gym sa Rizal with the other cyclists. My body is aching. It had been years since the last time I lifted some weights.

As expected, I was still in pain the day after (June 5), due to DOMS or delayed onset muscle soreness. I was also told to join the tracksters in their training on the velodrome. Huh? Biglaan, no explanations were given. Di ko alam kung bakit binigay sa akin yung track bike at bahala na akong mag adjust with the help of the mechanic. First time ulit magvelodrome training after a long time kaya nanibago ako bukod pa sa galing ako ng tour at walang training for almost a week due to my appointments and very important activities. Warm up pa lang, halos magcollapse na ako. Iba kasi talaga ang level ng intensity sa velo. High intensity talaga. Pagkatapos ng warm up, the training schedule said 5 laps standing x 5, pero naka 2x lang kami tapos 10 laps standing team pursuit. Grogeng-groge talaga! Para akong hihimatayin after the training. Pero wala pa rin akong time for that. Need to go home immediately and drive to DFA to renew my passport, go to Pasig to have my polar repaired, drive around QC to file some documents sa kampo, pick up some things in an office, and thank some people on my way home. It was another long and tiring day but I was glad that I accomplished almost all of my errand.

On June 6, Wednesday, I had an easy ride to Bugarin. It was about 120km. I went home after training , then drive to camp to attend to some military matters. The following day, June 7, Thursday, another velodrome training - warm up, 5x flying, 7 laps team pursuit. Solve na naman! Same intensity as the others na fully trained na at mataas na ang level. All these for something I do not know. May balita na pupunta ng South Africa for the World B, at ang sabi-sabi paglalaruin daw ako sa track at road? Ang totoo, I am not sure. Don’t know what’s happening since nobody is telling me. Puro tsismis pa lang at wala pang official statement. My worry is the supposedly departure date, which is on June 20. Kung matuloy man, it is just slightly more than 2 weeks since my first velo ride. Malamang magkalat ako nito. Honestly, considering the time and the rate of my training, meron ako pang maintain but sad to say not enough to speed up the team. As for the road event, again kung matuloy man, I cant answer dahil sa velo na nga ako.

June 8, Friday, I had a core training in Rizal. Dahil di pa ako fully adjusted in my new routine, I still feel sore after training. Nothing against this, I know I need it and in fact I plan to enroll in a gym noong wala pa ako sa team. I have the endurance but lacks power. But I also need time to strenghten my muscles and develop power. This was not like the surprise trial last Feb na sumakay lamang ako sa track bike ko sa mismong race day. I can not do this overnight. I need time to prepare for something as intense as World B.

  1. its hard to get motivated for races (or work for that matter) you don’t know when and where it will be.
