Was it the hands of faith? Or was it destiny…or Karma perhaps. Kahit saan pa! A win is a win! Nag long distance pa sila ermats at erpats galing sa finish line kahapon.. before pa ng final lap/criterium kanina. “***** panalo kumpare mo!”. Basa na ending. Naikwento ko sa lahat ng makikinig sa kin. Dun ko naisip. If you win, dami ng aari sa yong kakilala. If you lose, daming lalait. Dun ko rin naalala nung minsang nilait na laos ang champion namin sa isang kwentuhang siklista sa marikina maraming taon na nakaraan. Nung mga panahong walang kakampi. Ala ako nasabi. Nagitmpi lang. Pero si ermats hindi…
Noon o Ngayon, Proud ako!. Ilang champion ba kumain sa bahay nyo, bumisita, umattend ng birthday ko kahit nagsiksikan pa sila sa bahay namin, nagninong sa binyag, bumisita, umattend ng birthday ng inaanak nya, bumisita, bumista?…. Na-realize ko totoong tao to. matalo o manalo. Di ko na kailangang manood kanina. O para magpapicture picture with the champ. Dami na gumagawa nun. Tama na sa kin Radio.
Sir! Saludo ako! You owe it to yourself. And to your wife who has been battling the odds on the background (minsan sa battlegrounds). Wag ka sana makalimot sa dinaanang hirap. A lesson well learned is always better than a prize won. Gaya ng sabi ko dati.. we never stopped believing.
